The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is a NYC Department of Transportation initiative that helps businesses upgrade their truck fleets to newer, cleaner vehicles that will have drastically lower levels of harmful substances emitted from engine exhausts.
The program is open for businesses that operate within, or regularly travel to, Hunts Point and Port Morris.
Clean Trucks helps to make the South Bronx a cleaner, healthier place for local resident AND workers.
Clean Trucks provides funding to replace older trucks with newer vehicles with a U.S. EPA 2010 emission compliant, diesel or alternative fuel engines. Clean Trucks will also pay for diesel exhaust retrofits and replacement of older Transport Refrigeration Units.
As of May 2017, Clean Trucks has approved over $14.3 million worth of funding, accounting for 494 replacement trucks and 25 transport refrigeration units for the Beverage, Produce, Meat, Seafood, Leasing, Commercial Carrier, Waste/Recycling and Moving/Storage industries.
